Getting your codes is easy and usually free:

• Go to AutoZone, O'Reilly, Advance Auto, or similar — they'll scan it at no charge

• Have them test your 12V battery at the same time

• Write down all codes, not just the first one

While P0A80 tells you the pack as a whole has failed, the P3011 through P3024 codes tell you exactly which part of the pack is causing the problem. These codes are among the most diagnostically useful hybrid codes available — and understanding what they're pointing at helps explain why module-level quality control matters so much in a reconditioned battery.

Code P0AA6 is one of the more misunderstood hybrid codes because it doesn't always mean what people assume. Unlike P0A80 or P0A7F — which are clearly about battery pack performance — P0AA6 is about electrical isolation, and the source of the problem can be the battery, the wiring, the voltage sensing harness, or another component in the high-voltage system.

P0A80 is a Toyota/Lexus hybrid-specific diagnostic trouble code that means the HV (high-voltage) battery control module has determined the battery pack is no longer performing within acceptable parameters.
